The rules
Paddle for Life is a charitable event, organised to raise awareness and funds for Save the Children whom work for under privileged children both here in the UK and oversees.
Raft Race Event
- Each team will paddle around a designated course set out by the organisers in accordance to the conditions of the event.
- There will be a £50 entry free per raft and a minimum sponsorship fee of £50, each entrant must agree that the money raised goes to the nominated charity - Save the children.
- Entrants must be 16+ years of age
- All teams must follow the guidelines set out by race marshals
- No less than 4 member no more than 10 in each team
- Each team needs to provide buoyancy aids/life jackets for each crew member and they are to be worn at all times during the race.
- Entrants must supply suitable clothing/exposure suits for the conditions of the day.
- All crew members of the team are able to swim
- No consumption of alcohol prior to the race
- No medical conditions or illnesses that can be aggravated by the event
- All team members must pre registered and sign in on the day
- All teams will be allocated an identification number and it must be clearly visible on the raft.
- Each team needs to make their own raft
- The overall length of the raft length needs to be 3m and no longer than 9m
- Entrants are allowed to confer with the organisers, marshals, and other parties regarding the construction of their raft!
- Entrants will agree to abide by the rules, accept the race organisers and marshals’ decisions are final, and raise monies for the nominated charity.
- All competitors enter at their own risk and understand that each person is wholly responsible for his/her own actions.
- No responsibility will be accepted by the organisers for loss or damage to persons or property, howsoever caused.
Paddle Board Competition
- Entrants will paddle around a designated course set out by the events organisers in accordance to the conditions of the day.
- There will be a £10 entry fee per person and a minimum sponsorship fee of £10, each entrant must agree that the money raised goes to the nominated charity – Save the Children.
- Entrants must be 16+ years of age, younger participants will be considered on enquiry
- Entrants must abide by the guidelines set by the race marshals on the day.
- All entrants must pre –register and sign in on the day and will be allocated a race number, this number must be clearly visible on paddling during the event.
- All entrants must provide own their own surf paddle craft
- Entrants will need to supply suitable exposure suits for the conditions of the day.
- Entrants must be strong swimmers, and able to swim in their fancy dress costumes if applicable.
- No consumption of alcohol prior to the race
- No medical conditions or illnesses that can be aggravated by the event
- Entrants will agree to abide by the rules, accept the race organisers and marshals’ decisions are final, and raise monies for the nominated charity – Save the Children.
- All competitors entre at their own risk and understands that each person is wholly responsible for his/her own actions.
- No responsibility will be accepted by the organisers for loss or damage to persons or property, howsoever caused.
Kayak Paddling Competition
- Entrants will paddle around a designated course set out by the event’s organisers in accordance to the conditions of the day.
- There will be a £10 entry fee per person and a minimum sponsorship fee of £10, each entrant must agree that the money raised goes to the nominated charity –Save the Children.
- Must be 16+ years of age
- Entrants must abide by the guidelines laid out by the race marshals on the day.
- Entrants must be strong swimmers, and able to swim in their fancy dress costumes if applicable
- No consumption of alcohol prior to the race
- No medical conditions or illnesses that can aggravated by the event
- All entrants must pre register and sign in on the day, and their allocated number must be clearly visible on the Kayak/Canoes throughout the race
- Entrants must provide their own kayak/canoes
- Number of paddler cannot exceed max capacity of kayak
- All entrants must wear a buoyancy aid throughout the event, and preferable a helmet.
- Entrants need to wear a suitable exposure suit for the conditions of the day.
- Entrants will agree to abide by the rules, accept the race organisers and marshals’ decisions are final, and raise monies for the nominated charity.
- All competitors enter at their own risk and understand that each person is wholly responsible for his/her own actions.

HOW DOES IT WORK
The Raft Race will consist of entrants pre constructing a sturdy stealthy, raft capable of holding between 4-10members, entrants must paddle their raft around the designated course in the fastest possible time, the first over the finish line will be crowned Paddle for Life 2011 champions.
Save the Children work with the 1 in 3 children living in poverty here in the U.K., that's over 3million children. For every pound given 83p goes directly to benefit the children, while the remainder 17p is used to raise further monies for the charity.
